Julie Miles

NAME:  Julie Miles

BIRTHDAY:  I’m an Aries.  I know, I know.

CITY/STATE BORN IN:  Philadelphia, PA.  Home of the Liberty Bell, lots of great seafood, and me.

MARITAL STATUS:  Married to Mr. Miles

CHILDREN/AGES:  My girls are Rebecca and Haylie.  Both were born on a Tuesday, on the 25th day of the month, January and November, respectively.  You would think they’d get along!  They are beautiful girls and smart, (I don’t know how that happened), and they love their mama.  Sometimes.

PETS:  Now you get to my heart.  I volunteer at the Animal Shelter every chance I get, and have adopted 3 cats, Milo, Marilyn and Olson, and 2 dogs.  BIG dogs.  They are my Joe and Bimini.  Whenever the world crashes in on me, they are there with something even better than long, slow kisses.  Sloppy wet ones!

SCHOOL DAYS NICKNAME:  Burgerbits.  Please.  Don’t ask.

MY HOBBIES ARE:  Biking on my hybrid bike, hiking;  I climbed a mountain in Utah once, and almost hiked the whole Grand Canyon.  (Almost doesn’t count). Planting stuff and watching it not grow, writing scripts, being pulled behind Joe and Bimini when they take me out for a walk.  They are the horses to my chariot!

FIRST WHEELS:  A broken down Mitsubishi-something that died on the freeway.

FAVORITE TV SHOWS:  Criminal Minds, Law and Order (still!), Biggest Loser (those guys are inspiring), Numbers, Medium, Dexter, and all the gory stuff on the Discovery Channel when people come in to the ER on stretchers.  One guy got bitten by a shark in a very private place.  Can you say, ‘re-attachment’?   Sorry, ‘Dancing With the Stars’ and Oprah don’t float my boat.  I’ve tried!

FAVORITE MOVIES:  To Kill a Mockingbird, Talladega Nights, Shawshank Redemption, My Week-end at Bernies.

FAVORITE COLOR:  I love orange and olive green.  Mix them together and you get mud.

FAVORITE FOODS:  Potato pancakes, Greek food (no, I’m not Greek, I never even met Telly Savalas), anything with butterscotch and fudge, ideally combined.

FIRST RADIO JOB:  At Mix 103.1 in Tallahassee, FL.  I worked from late Saturday nights into early Sunday mornings.  It was great for a first-timer, because I turned off the station accidentally for my whole shift several times, and no-one noticed.

FAVORITE VIDEO OR BOARD GAME:  Don’t know if this qualifies as a board game, but I love Jenga and that kind of stuff where if you pull out the wrong peg, it all comes crashing down.  Now that’s excitement!

FAVORITE SPORTS TEAM:  Whichever team has the best attitude, which varies year to year.  If I like a team and they’re too cocky, they’re out.

FAVORITE NASCAR DRIVER:  Both Earnhardts, and Ricky Bobby.

PEOPLE WHO HAVE INSPIRED ME:  My parents and my brother.  My Mom was one of the strongest people I’ve ever known, and would never put up with or hand out B.S.  My Dad was the gentlest, sweetest soul who ever lived.  My brother lives in the Colorado mountains and talks to hawks and eagles.

THIS REALLY TICKS ME OFF:  Have you got an hour?  Bad drivers, cell phone/blackberry addicts, people who sit on the fence and don’t take a stand, salespeople who don’t even try to help you, undercooked food.  I told you, have you got an hour?

IF I DIDN’T WORK IN RADIO I’D:  Be an actress or the person WHO MOWS YOUR LAWN!!!!
